There comes a point in life when you begin to know yourself a little better.

Not the person you were expected to be, but the person you genuinely are.

As you get older, you may become less willing to do things simply because everyone else is doing them. You become more selective about who you spend time with, where you go, and what deserves your attention.

To some, this may look like stubbornness, less flexibility, or even becoming difficult, but perhaps that isn't what is happening at all.

Perhaps you are simply becoming more honest about what suits you.

You begin to realise that your time is finite. Not every invitation needs to be accepted, every relationship maintained, or every opportunity pursued.

That isn't necessarily selfishness. It can be self-respect.

There is a difference between becoming less tolerant and becoming more discerning. You are not rejecting the world; you are simply choosing more carefully what you allow into it.

Perhaps growing older isn't about becoming less adaptable. Perhaps it is about becoming more comfortable being true to you.

Thought-provoking reflections on life, identity and relationships, written in the style of a modern-day Socratic journal and told through poetic paradoxes and emotional honesty.
