We wait for the sunshine, as if the rain holds no value. We curse the storms, forgetting that it’s the downpour that softens the soil for seeds to grow. Strange, isn’t it, how pain becomes the midwife of peace? The most radiant parts of us often come from the places that have been soaked in sorrow. We think healing is light, soft and warm, but often, it begins in the dark, with cold winds and thunderous realisations. Sunshine after the rain doesn’t arrive to rescue us, it reveals what the rain washed away. The illusions. The attachments. The masks.

After the rain, colours seem more vivid. Air smells new. Maybe we only truly appreciate warmth when we’ve been chilled to the bone. Maybe the soul, like the earth, needs seasons, dryness to hunger, rain to cleanse, storms to break what’s brittle. There’s paradox here: the sunshine doesn’t make the rain worthwhile, yet without the rain, the sunshine can’t be fully seen. It’s not either/or, it’s both. We don't emerge from the storm unbroken; we emerge reassembled. And it’s in that reshaping that resilience takes root. The sunshine after the rain isn’t always a dramatic arrival. Sometimes it’s subtle, a laugh that returns without guilt. A breath that doesn't feel tight. A morning that doesn’t ache. It’s not that the pain disappears. It just no longer defines us.

So, if you’re in the middle of your storm, let the rain fall. Let it soak through every layer, and when the clouds part, because they will, you’ll find that the sunshine was never really gone. It was simply waiting for you to see it with new eyes. If this resonated with you, you might love a free short course worksheet, please email me for a list of topics to choose from, thank you.
